Armenia`s foreign trade turnover with EAEU countries began to sink

ArmInfo.Armenia's foreign trade turnover with the EAEU countries in January-November 2020 compared with the same period of 2019 decreased by 2% (against 12.8% growth a year earlier), amounting to $ 2.03 billion.

The negative balance of Armenia's foreign trade with the EAEU countries amounted  to $ 773.2 million, having increased over 11 months by 16.6% (against  growth by 17.5% a year earlier) against the background of an increase  in imports by 2.5% to $ 1.4 billion with a decline in exports by  10.7% to $ 627.9 million (against an increase in imports by 13,9% and  exports by 10.7% a year earlier). This is evidenced by the data of  the RA Statistical Committee.

According to statistics, Russia and Kyrgyzstan determined the  downward trend in Armenia's foreign trade turnover with the EAEU  countries, while Belarus and Kazakhstan demonstrated growth. In  particular, foreign trade turnover of Armenia and Russia decreased by  2.8% per annum (against 12.6% growth a year earlier), and with  Kyrgyzstan - by 44.5% (against an 3.3-fold increase a year earlier).  At the same time, the annual growth of foreign trade turnover between  Armenia and Belarus slowed down from 28.7% to 17.5%, and with  Kazakhstan it came out of the 37.4% decline by 87.5% growth.

Russia holds the leading position both in terms of the total volume  of foreign trade turnover ($ 1.9 billion) and in exports and imports  ($ 604.3 million and $ 1.3 billion, respectively). Exports with  Russia reversed the trend from 10.8% growth to 11.1% decline, with a  noticeable slowdown in import growth from 13.6% to 1.3%.

In the structure of Armenia's foreign trade with the EAEU countries,  Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan follow in terms of volume after  Russia - $ 70.8 million, $ 14.3 million and $ 1.8 million,  respectively.  The export of Armenian goods to Belarus increased by  8% to $ 16.7 million, while imports in this direction increased by  20.8% to $ 54.1 million, against the growth of these indicators a  year earlier by 33.7% and 27%, respectively.

In the direction of Kazakhstan, exports increased by 11.1% to $ 5.6  million, while imports jumped 3.3-fold to $ 8.8 million, against the  decline in these indicators a year earlier by 45.4% and 14.4%,  respectively.

The export of Armenian goods to Kyrgyzstan decreased by 55% to $ 1.4  million with an increase in imports by 2.3-fold to $ 420.5 thousand,  while a year earlier exports in this direction showed an increase by  4.2-fold with a decline in imports by 33.4%.

The share of Armenia's foreign trade turnover with the EAEU countries  in the total structure of foreign trade amounted to 31.9% in the  first 11 months of 2020 against 28.5% a year earlier. Moreover, the  share of Russia increased from 27.6% to 30.6%, Belarus - from 0.8% to  1.1%, Kazakhstan - from 0.1% to 0.2%, and Kyrgyzstan, on the  contrary, decreased from 0 .04% to 0.03%. Namely, in the structure of  Armenia's foreign trade with the EAEU countries, the share of Russia  is 95.7%, Belarus - 3.5%, Kazakhstan - 0.7%, Kyrgyzstan - 0.1%.

In total, Armenia's foreign trade turnover in January-November 2020  amounted to $ 6.4 billion, being in a decline of 12.4% per annum  (against an increase of 7.4% a year earlier). In particular, the  decline in import volumes turned out to be more significant - by  15.9% to $ 4.1 billion, than exports - by 5.2% to $ 2.3 billion,  against the growth of these items a year earlier by 6.6% and 9%,  respectively. The negative balance of foreign trade of Armenia  decreased in January-November 2020 by 26.5% per annum (against 4.4%  growth in the previous year in the same period), amounting to $ 1.8  billion
