ArmInfo.The banking system of Armenia in 2020 reduced tax deductions to the state treasury by 10.1% - to 49.1 billion drams ($ 93.9 million). Of this amount, 87.2% or 42.8 billion drams were paid under direct taxes, with a y-o-y decline of 17%.
According to the RA State Revenue Committee, 12 out of 17 existing banks were on the list of the first hundred of the largest taxpayers in Armenia by the end of 2020 (as in the previous year).
Among them, Ameriabank, ACBA Bank, Armbusinessbank, Armswissbank and Ardshinbank were in the top five taxpaying banks, four of which were in the TOP-5 a year earlier.
In 2020, the top five banks sent 24.4 billion drams to the state treasury as taxes (a y-o-y decline of 17.8%), of which 21.4 billion drams - for direct taxes (a y-o-y decline of 25.4%).
The leader among banks in terms of taxes paid - Ameriabank ranked 23rd (versus 19th a year earlier) on the list of large taxpayers, having directed 5.5 billion drams to the state budget, of which 2.2 billion drams - income tax. The bank is followed by: ACBA Bank - the 24th place (against the 23rd a year earlier), which paid 5.4 billion drams, of which 4.6 billion are direct taxes, Armbusinessbank - the 29th place (against the 37th a year earlier), which paid 4.8 billion, of which 4.3 billion - direct taxes, Armswissbank - the 33rd place (against the 64th a year earlier), which paid 4.5 billion, of which 3.4 billion are direct taxes. This time Ardshinbank closes the first five banks-large taxpayers, which took the 36th place (against the 40th a year earlier) and paid 4.1 billion drams, of which 3.6 billion - for direct taxes.
The list of first hundred large taxpayers also included Converse Bank - the 43rd place (3.7 billion, of which 3.2 billion is income tax), INECOBANK- the 45th place (3.5 billion drams, of which 3.2 billion are direct taxes), VTB Bank (Armenia) -the 59th place (2.9 billion drams, of which 2.4 billion are direct taxes), Unibank -the 60th place (2.8 billion drams, of which 2.4 billion drams are direct taxes), Armeconombank - the 62nd place (2.8 billion, of which 2.6 billion are direct taxes), Araratbank - the 81st place (2.2 billion drams, of which 1.8 billion are direct taxes) and Evocabank - the 98th place (1.9 billion drams, of which 1.7 billion are direct taxes).
HSBC Bank Armenia - the 112th place (1.7 billion drams, of which 1.2 billion are direct taxes), IDBank - the 146th place (1.3 billion, of which 1.2 billion are direct taxes), Byblos Bank Armenia - the 203rd place (872.2 million drams, of which 843.4 million drams - for direct taxes) and Mellat Bank - the 242th place (730.4 million drams, of which 474.2 million drams are direct taxes) are among the second hundred large taxpayers in Armenia.
Artsakhbank is also included in the list of 1000 large taxpayers in Armenia - the 660th place (246.7 million drams, of which 213.5 million is income tax).
To note, in 2019, the banking system of Armenia increased tax deductions to the state treasury by 7.7% - to 54.6 billion drams ($ 114 million). Of this amount, 94.5% or 51.6 billion drams were paid through direct taxes, with a y-o-y growth of 23.8%.
