ArmInfo."MTS Armenia" (VivaCell-MTS trademark) has become the leader among telecom operators on the list of the largest taxpayers in Armenia, rising to the 10th position from the 14th a year earlier.
According to the data of the State Revenue Committee, the company paid over 13 billion drams to the state treasury for 2020, of which 29.4 million drams- on customs duties, 4.2 billion drams - on direct taxes (including income tax, profit tax), 6.1 billion drams - on indirect taxes (including VAT, excise tax). Telecom Armenia (formerly "VEON Armenia", Beeline trademark), having dropped to the 12th position from the 10th year earlier, paid 8.8 billion drams to the state treasury for 2020, of which 19.5 million drams - for customs duties, 8.4 billion AMD - for direct taxes (including income tax, profits tax), 3.1 billion AMD - for indirect taxes (including VAT, excise tax).
Ucom ranks the 13th (against the 18th a year earlier), having allocated 8.2 billion drams to the budget in taxes, of which 16 million - for customs duties, 1.6 billion - for direct taxes (including income tax, profts tax) and 3.5 billion - on indirect taxes (including VAT, excise tax).
GNC Alfa (Rostelecom trademark) moved up to the 121st place from the 176th a year earlier, having paid 1.5 billion drams to the budget in taxes, of which 11.3 million - in customs duties, 679.6 million - in direct taxes ( including income tax, profits tax) and 840.8 million - for indirect taxes (including VAT, excise tax). According to the data of the RA State Revenue Committee, the four largest communication operators of Armenia paid a total of 31.6 billion drams to the state treasury through taxes for 2020 (with a y-o-y decline of 1.6%), of which 76.1 million drams - for customs duties, 14.9 billion- on direct taxes (including income tax, profit tax) and 13.5 billion - on indirect taxes (including VAT, excise tax).
To note, in 2019, the four largest telecom operators paid a total of 32.2 billion drams to the state budget for 2019, with a y-o-y growth of 76%. (The estimated exchange rate of the dram as of Dec 30, 2020 amounted to 522.59 AMD / $ 1). To recall, at the end of 2020, a deal was made to sell 100% of the shares of VEON Armenia (Beeline), after which the company was named Telecom Armenia.
