FAO launches emergency aid program for vulnerable populations  affected by Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

ArmInfo. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has launched an aid program for vulnerable populations affected by the Nagorno-  Karabakh conflict in Armenia.

According to FAO, the project will be implemented jointly with the  Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia and the Food Security  Inspectorate of Armenia in order to quickly respond to the needs of  the government and fill in the problems that have arisen. Assistance  will be provided from agricultural resources such as feed, equipment,  materials, construction of temporary farms for displaced farm  animals, etc.  "The program is important because it provides a quick  response, but additional support will be needed in the coming  agricultural season," Raymond Yellen, FAO Representative in Armenia  said.

To note, according to various estimates, from 12 thousand to 55  thousand cows and from 60 thousand to 90 thousand heads of small  ruminants were transported to Armenia by displaced families after the  Karabakh conflict.
