Electricity generation in Armenia increased by 1.2% in 2020

ArmInfo. Electricity generation in Armenia in January- December 2020 amounted to 7,723.4 million kWh, with y-o-y growth of 1.2% (against a decline of 1.9% a  year earlier). In December alone, electricity generation increased by  15.9% to 732.9 mln/kWh.

According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in  January-December 2020, TPPs increased electricity generation by 3.9%  - up to 3,165.5 million kWh, NPPs - by 25.4% - to 2,756.3 million  kWh, at the same time, the volume of heat production increased by  36.9% to 37.5 thousand gigajoules.  Whereas HPPs, on the contrary,  reduced production - by 25% to 1,778.4 million kWh.

According to the source, wind farms reduced their electricity  generation by 42.4% to 1.9 million kWh, while solar plants, on the  contrary, increased their production by 59% to 21.3 million kWh.

To recall, in 2019, 7,632.3 million kWh were produced, with an annual  decline of 1.9%. At the same time, TPPs reduced generation by 9.7%,  HPPs and ANPP increased - respectively by 2.3% and 5.9%, the volume  of heat production decreased by 31.7%. Whereas wind and solar  stations have increased the generation of electricity several times -  1.7 and 2.6-fold, respectively.
