Russia lifted restrictions on the import of tomatoes and peppers from  Armenia from February 5

ArmInfo. On February 5, the Russian Federation lifted restrictions on the import of tomatoes and peppers from Armenia. This is reported by the food safety inspection  body.

The source notes that earlier Russian experts found signs of the  Pepino mosaic virus in tomatoes and pepper imported by 13 companies  from the Armavir region of Armenia. As a result, imports were  restricted. In order to establish the presence of the disease, the  inspection body conducted research, the results of which were  submitted to the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary  Surveillance of the Russian Federation (Rosselkhoznadzor). As a  result of joint discussions, Rosselkhoznadzor lifted temporary  restrictions on the supply of tomatoes and peppers from February 5,  2021.

It should be noted that the import of tomatoes and peppers from the  Armavir region of the Republic of Armenia to Russia was banned from  December 14, 2020 due to the detection of the Pepino mosaic virus in  products, in respect of which the Rosselkhoznadzor introduced a  temporary quarantine phytosanitary measure.
