According to the data of the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, of this number, 15,826 people moved to the country from abroad. (with an annual decline of 34.6%), and 18 094 people emigrated abroad (with an annual decline of 39.9%).
As a result, for the reporting period 2020. the negative balance of migration in Armenia amounted to 2,268 people, with an annual decline of 61.8%.
The main countries where the citizens of Armenia prefer to move are Russia, the Republic of Artsakh, France, Germany, Georgia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.
For tourism purposes, 375,216 people visited Armenia during the reporting period, which is 80.2% less than the previous year.
According to experts, the sharp reduction in the migration balance is also explained by the actual closure of borders, including between Armenia and Russia due to the epidemic of caronovirus infection, which significantly suspended the exit of labor migrants from the country.
Nevertheless, it should be noted that over the past three years, the migration balance, according to official statistics, has been gradually decreasing. 19808 people moved to Armenia from abroad in the "revolutionary" 2018. (annual growth of 12.5%), and 25641 people emigrated abroad. (7.5% annual growth).
