ArmInfo.In Armenia, the unemployment rate in the III quarter of 2020 (according to the latest data - Ed. note) amounted to 18.1% (versus 17.5% in the Q2 of 2020), which is 1 percentage point higher than a year ago. This is evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical Committee.
At the same time, according to statistics, there is an increase in the level of employment in the country from 47.5% in the Q2 of 2020 up to 49.2% in the Q3 of 2020. Whereas a year earlier for the same period, the employment rate was 51%. According to the source, as of October 1, 2020, the number of employed population reached 1,023 thousand people (with an annual decline of 3.8%) or 49.1% of the economically active population, and there are 226.9 thousand unemployed as of the reporting date, which is 3.7% higher than a year ago.
According to statistics, the demand for labor at the end of December 2020 decreased to 1,203 people from 3608 people for the same period of 2019, having decreased in annual terms by 66.7%.
In parallel with this, the load per 1 vacant place has significantly (3.3-fold) increased - from 24 people at the end of December 2019 up to 73 people at the end of December 2020.
At the end of December, 809 citizens managed to find a job in Armenia (an annual decline of 57.2%) or 0.9% of the total number of job seekers. Of those employed, 218 people are men (with an annual decline of 69.6%), and 591 people women (49.7% annual decline).
As updated at the end of December 2020 according to the forecast of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia, the unemployment rate in 2020, amid a tangible decline in GDP, will be 19%, with a further increase in 2021 to 20%.
