The official recalled that such dynamics was provoked by the introduction of changes from January 1, 2020 in terms of increasing customs duties when importing cars to Armenia from third countries. Before that, the import of cars was in the regime of customs exemptions of the EAEU countries, which was used by the importers. According to Sharafyan, in 2020, cars were imported to Armenia mainly from the United States. In 2019, the country's budget earned good money on customs clearance and taxes. In value terms, imports of cars in that year amounted to about $ 560 million. According to the source, cars were imported to Armenia mainly from Germany (33.9%), Japan (30.7%), the United States (24.1% ), Republic of Korea (5%), Mexico (1.9%), Russia (1.7%), Canada (1.6%), as well as China, United Kingdom, Turkey, Czech Republic, Georgia, Hungary, Sweden , Spain, Italy, Thailand, UAE, Poland, Austria, Switzerland, England, Ukraine, etc.
