Statistics: Armenian GDP decreased in 2020 by 7.6%

ArmInfo.Armenian GDP decreased in 2020 by 7.6% - to 6.2 trillion drams ($ 12.6 billion), against growth by 7.6% in 2019. This is evidenced by the data of the  RA Stat Committee.

But the quarterly dynamics of GDP was a minus only in the first  quarter - 38.7%, after which there was a weak growth in the second  quarter - by 0.4%, significantly accelerated in the third quarter to  38.8% and also sharply slowed to 6.8% in the fourth quarter.

The GDP decline in 2020 proceeded, mainly from the service sector -  by 14.7% and the trade sector - by 14%, and to a lesser extent on the  scope of construction - by 9.5% and promscertors - by 0.9%. In this  case, the energy complex and the agrossor unfolded towards the growth  of 1.2% and 1.4%, respectively. A year earlier, in 2019, the highest  growth was demonstrated by the field of services, the promsser and  the trading sector - 15%, 9% and 8.9%, respectively, against the  background of a modest growth of the construction scope by 4.6%,  during the decline in the energy complex by 1.9% and Agroslete by  4.2%.  At the same time, Armenian's foreign trade turnover turned the  dynamics from 10.4% growth in 2019 by a 13.2% decline in 2020. In its  structure, the volume of exports asked less significantly rather than  imports, while the year earlier both articles were in almost equally  high growth. Thus, the volume of exports came from 9.4% of the growth  of 3.9% recession, and imports from 10.8% growth by 17.7% decline.   It should be noted that in the October forecast of the World Bank for  2020, the decline in Armenia's GDP was expected to be 6.3%. The IMF  in its November forecast predicted Armenian GDP fall in 2020 for more  than 7%. And on the new forecast, the Central Bank of the RA was  expected to decline in Armenian GDP in 2020 by 7.8%.
