ArmInfo.The EU has announced an additional € 500 million through the World Health Organization (WHO) COVAX mechanism to ensure access to COVID-19 vaccines in low- and middle-income countries, including the Eastern Partnership countries. This is stated in the widespread message of the EU.
By the end of 2021, the EU reportedly aims to provide 1.3 billion doses of vaccines to 92 low- and middle-income countries, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. According to the source, the EU countries, within the framework of the Team Europe initiative, are the leading investor in COVAX, whose donations to the fight against coronavirus totaled 2.2 billion euros. It should be noted that since the outbreak of the coronavirus in Armenia, 171,510 cases of infection have been registered, 163,165 have recovered.
