ArmInfo. In January 2021, Armenia generated 742.4 million kWh. electricity, which is 2.2% higher than a year ago (against an increase of 18.7% a year earlier).
According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, during the reporting period TPPs increased their electricity generation by 8.4% per annum - up to 327.2 million kWh, the Armenian NPP - by 0.6% per annum, ensuring the volume of 302 million kWh. At the same time, HPPs, on the contrary, reduced production volumes - by 10.4% - to 109.8 million kWh. According to the source, 5.4 thousand gigajoules of thermal energy were produced during the reporting period, with a y-o-y growth of 14.9%.
In the reporting period, wind power plants produced 0.2 million kWh of electricity, having reduced the volume by 60% in y-o-y terms. Solar power plants produced 3.2 million kWh of electricity in the reporting period, with a 2.9-fold y-o-y growth.
To remind, electricity generation in Armenia in January-December 2020 amounted to 7,723.4 million kWh, with a y-o-y growth of 1.2% (against a decline of 1.9% a year earlier). At the same time, TPPs increased electricity generation by 3.9% - up to 3,165.5 million kWh, Armenian NPP - by 25.4% - up to 2,756.3 million kWh, at the same time, the volumes of heat energy production were increased by 36.9% to 37.5 thousand gigajoules. Whereas HPPs, on the contrary, reduced production - by 25% to 1,778.4 million kWh.
According to the source, wind farms reduced their electricity generation by 42.4% to 1.9 million kWh, while solar plants, on the contrary, increased their production by 59% to 21.3 million kWh.
