ArmInfo. The metallurgical industry of Armenia in January 2021 against January 2020 reduced production by 6.9%, against 49.3% growth a year earlier. This is evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical Committee.
In particular, the production of ferromolybdenum in January 2021 compared to the same period in 2020 decreased by 10.9%, amounting to 500.8 tons, against an increase of 15.6% a year earlier.
At the same time, during the reporting period, the production of molybdenum concentrate increased by 5.5% - up to 1,629 tons, against an increase of 1.9-fold a year earlier.
Copper concentrate production decreased by 9.1% to 32.3 thousand tons, against an increase of 48.1% a year earlier.
Zinc concentrate production decreased by 15.5% - to 883 tons, against an increase of 43.3% a year earlier. Aluminum foil production in January 2021 compared to the same period in 2020 increased by 6.9% - up to 3,101 tons, against 37.2% growth a year earlier.
The production of steel pipes, hollow sections and fittings increased in January 2021 by 1.9 times per year (against a decline of 9.3% a year earlier), amounting to 1,181 tons.
Alloy (carbon) steel castings were produced in January 2021 in the amount of 1,371 tons, with a decline of 22.6% over the year, against a 2.8-fold increase a year earlier.
All metals produced in Armenia are exported, mainly to Europe and the USA.
To recall, the metallurgical industry in Armenia in 2020 slowed down the decline in production to 0.4% from 4.7% in 2019. In particular, according to statistics, in January-December 2020 production of copper concentrate decreased by 6.1%, production of zinc concentrate increased by 15.1%, molybdenum concentrate - 1.7-fold, ferromolybdenum, on the contrary, decreased by 12.9%, aluminum foil in 2020 increased by 16.2%, production of steel pipes, hollow sections and fittings - 1.6-fold. The production of alloyed (carbon) castings decreased by 7.3%.
