Armenia`s service sector starts 2021 with decline 

ArmInfo.In Armenia, the service sector in January 2021 reduced volumes by 10.3% per annum - to 129.8 billion drams (over $ 249 million), against 13.4% growth a  year earlier.

According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia,  the trend is due to a deterioration in the dynamics of the volume of  services in the field of catering and tourism, which went from 28.6%  growth to 19.2%, culture, entertainment and recreation - from 3.5%  growth to 33.2% decline, health care from 17.6% growth to 3.9%  decline, real estate- from 16.8% growth to 9.9% decline, transport -  from 27.3% growth to 42.4% decline, professional and scientific  activity - from 13.3% growth by 5.1% decline. At the same time,  services in the field of education and administrative and auxiliary  activities maintained a negative trend, as in the previous year,  having decreased by 4.9% (against a decline of 7.8% a year earlier)  and 4.8% (against a decline of 24.1%) respectively.

According to the source, services in the field of information and  communication accelerated the rate of annual growth from 9.6% to  12.7%, and in the financial sector, on the contrary, slowed down the  growth rate - from 21.1% to 11%.

The financial sector is the leader in terms of the volume of services  provided - 42.2 billion drams (32.5% of the total). The second place  in terms of the volume of services is occupied by the field of  information and communication - 25.2 billion drams (19.4% of the  total volume). The third place is taken by the field of culture,  entertainment and recreation - 20.2 billion drams (15.6% of the  total). The fourth place is taken by catering and tourism - 8.9  billion drams (6.9% of the total). Transport closes the top five in  terms of the volume of services provided - 8.8 billion drams (6.9% of  the total).

The average calculated AMD exchange rate was 521.20 AMD / $ 1 in  January 2021, against 479.21 AMD / $ 1 in January 2020.
