Armenia cuts gold exports in 2020, gaining in price

ArmInfo. In 2020, 5,670 kg of gold were exported from Armenia (including galvanic spraying), which in quantitative terms is 2.7% lower than a year ago.

According to the report of the RA Customs Service, the customs value  of exported gold in 2020 increased by 14.3% per annum - up to $ 255.8  million.

During the reporting year, Armenia exported gold mainly to  Switzerland (50%), India (30.4%) and the UAE (19.4%).

At the same time, 446.9 kg of gold were imported in 2020, which is  82.2% less than a year ago, for a total amount of $ 22.2 million  (with an annual decline of 78.9%).

Russia is in the lead among the countries supplying gold to Armenia  (71.8%), followed by the UAE (19.4%), Switzerland (6%), the United  States (2.7%), and Thailand.

To recall, in 2019 Armenia exported 5,825 kg of gold with an annual  growth of 16.3%. The customs value of exported gold increased by  27.4% to $ 223.7 million. The volume of imported gold amounted to  2,512.3 kg of gold, and the customs value was $ 114.6 million, and  both indicators increased by 42.2% and 56.7%, respectively. Gold was  exported mainly to Switzerland (96.6%), while it was imported from  Russia (82.1%) and the UAE (15.7%).
