Armenia sharply increases diamond export in 2020

ArmInfo.Armenia in 2020 sharply increased the export of polished diamonds by 87.5% (against a 65.1% decline in 2019) - up to 421.5 thousand carats. And the customs  value was $ 67.5 million, with a y-o-y growth of 24.7% (against a  29.9% decline in 2019).

According to the RA Customs Service, diamonds from Armenia are mainly  exported to the UAE (65.3%) and Russia (27.6%), as well as to Belgium  (4.1%), the USA (1.4%), Canada (0,8%) and Israel (0.5%).

According to customs data, a very modest positive trend was recorded  in the import of products for the cutting industry in quantitative  terms. In particular, the volume of supplies increased by only 1% to  715.4 thousand carats of rough diamonds worth $ 92.2 million (with an  annual decline of 38.4%), against a quantitative increase by 16% and  a decline in customs value by 13.2% in 2019.  Predominantly, rough  diamonds are imported to Armenia from Hong Kong (55%), India (19%),  UAE (5.5%) and Belgium (3.2%), as well as from Canada (0.9%),  Switzerland (0, 8%), Thailand (0.6%), South Africa (0.4%), Israel  (0.3%) and the USA (0.1%).
