Armenia reduced exports of copper ore, increasing exports of zinc and  molybdenum concentrates and ores containing precious metals

ArmInfo.In 2020, Armenia reduced the volume of copper ore exports by 9.3% - to 509.8 thousand tons, against an increase of 32.3% in 2019. According to the data of  the RA Customs Service, in value terms, the export of copper ore  amounted to $ 604.4 million, with an annual decline of 3.5%.

Copper ore was exported to Switzerland (38.3%), China (33.7%),  Bulgaria (28%), as well as to Georgia, the United Kingdom, the  Netherlands, Romania.

At the same time, an increase in the export of zinc concentrate was  recorded by 10.9% - up to 12.2 thousand tons, against a decline of  2.5% in 2019. Moreover, the entire volume fell on Belgium. However,  the customs value decreased by 21.7%- up to $ 12.9 million.

A positive trend was also observed in the export of molybdenum  concentrate, the volumes of which increased, as in the previous year,  several-fold- from 2.1 thousand tons to 16.4 thousand tons, while the  customs value increased 5 -fold- to $ 103.7 million. China (87.1%),  as well as Switzerland (5.8%), Belgium (4.6%), Russia (2%) are the  main countries where the product is exported.  The export of ores  containing precious metals in Armenia increased by 85.1% in 2020, to  6.1 thousand tons, against an increase of 6.7% in 2019. At the same  time, in value terms, a 4-fold increase was recorded - up to $ 12.4  million. The entire volume of exported raw materials, as in the  previous year, was exported to Switzerland.

According to the RA Statistical Committee, in 2020 the production of  copper concentrate decreased by 6.1% to 375.6 thousand tons, zinc  concentrate - by 15.1% to 12.930 thousand tons, molybdenum  concentrate - 1.7 -fold to 24.844 thousand tons.
