ARMENAL prepares for ASI certification

ArmInfo.ARMENAL launches preparations for certification of the plant for compliance with the requirements of international standards Aluminum Stewardship  Initiative (ASI) - the Initiative for Responsible Management of  Aluminum Production. ArmInfo was informed about this in the press  service of the company.

The report notes that the preparatory work is planned to be completed  by the end of 2021, after which one of the international specialized  companies will conduct a certification audit of ARMENAL. ASI  certification will demonstrate to consumers the plant's commitment to  sustainability in the manufacture of its products.

Specialists from the Department for Environment, Labor Protection and  Industrial Safety of RUSAL trained a large group of ARMENAL employees  who will take part in the implementation of ASI standards.  ASI  standards are widely recognized as an affirmation of adherence to the  principles of sustainable development and define the management,  environmental, and social criteria in the aluminum-related production  chain. ASI applies to all areas of enterprise activity - from  compliance with labor rights of workers and ensuring industrial  safety to anti-corruption and responsible supplier selection.

To recall, ARMENAL has been part of RUSAL since 2000. It is one of  the largest industrial enterprises in Armenia and the only producer  of aluminum foil in the Caucasus and Central Asia. Created on the  basis of the Kanaker aluminum plant, which was commissioned in 1950.
