
ArmInfo.Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed creating a bank of climate data and digital initiatives, including those related to carbon footprint accounting, within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). He put forward such an initiative on May 21 at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC).
According to the Russian leader, quoted by TASS, all EAEU countries are showing great interest in the development and implementation of green technologies, the implementation of their own innovative projects in this area. According to Putin, the member states of the union should intensify their joint work on combating climate change and protecting the environment.
"But, of course, this topic should not be allowed to be used as another instrument of some kind of restrictions in the economy. Therefore, we propose to think about forming a bank of climate data and digital initiatives in the union, including those related to carbon footprint accounting," added the President of the Russian Federation.
According to him, all companies of the EAEU countries working on projects to improve the environmental situation could use this resource.
The Eurasian Economic Union is an international organization for economic integration, which includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan; Moldova, Uzbekistan and Cuba have the status of observer states. Since January 1, the Kazakh side has assumed the chairmanship in the statutory bodies of the association.
