ArmInfo.Russian leader Vladimir Putin on May 21 at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council (SEEC) called for a prompt response to changes in prices for important goods.
According to the head of the Russian Federation, now, against the background of an unstable world market situation, the problems associated with sharp fluctuations in prices for socially significant products are aggravated. "We have specific decisions on this issue. In particular, not so long ago the Eurasian Commission adopted specific decisions aimed at consolidating the pricing policy of the Eurasian Economic Community states in the sugar market. Measures should be taken equally promptly on other types of products, when required," Putin said.
At the meeting of the SEEC, the Russian leader called for a further increase in the number of preferential agreements with the largest trade partners of the Union. He recalled that such documents have already been signed between the EAEU and Vietnam, Serbia, Iran, Singapore. "We consider it important to intensify negotiations on similar documents with Israel, and here Alexander Grigorievich (Lukashenko, President of Belarus) proposed with Egypt, we also support this, rather start the negotiation process with our major partner India, carefully study the expediency of concluding a free trade agreement with another big country Indonesia, with our neighbor Mongolia, "the Russian leader emphasized.
Vladimir Putin touched upon the linking of integration processes in the EurAsEC with the "One Belt - One Road" initiative being implemented by China. "I agree with my colleagues: a step towards this was the conclusion of an Agreement on trade and economic cooperation between the Eurasian Union and the PRC. We should, of course, move on. But this document is already being consistently implemented, thereby creating a good basis for the practical implementation of the proposed idea of forming a large Eurasian partnership in the security, economic and humanitarian sectors, "he said.
In general, the head of the Russian Federation expressed his satisfaction with the development of interaction in the EAEU. "The main thing is that it brings real economic benefits, which are felt by the population of our countries," Putin said. As a confirmation, the President mentioned the growth of trade turnover. According to him, "this is a very good sign that the EAEU is acting in the right direction, efforts are yielding concrete results." So, despite the difficulties caused by the pandemic, the trade turnover between the states of the Eurasian Economic Union in the first quarter of 2021 increased by 17% compared to the same period last year.
