ArmInfo. At the end of June this year, Agarak Copper- Molybdenum Combine CJSC will switch to a completely closed cycle of water consumption ahead of schedule, practically eliminating negative impact on the environment.
As reported by the press service of the Russian Embassy in Armenia, General Director of the plant Alexei Sinyakov said this at a meeting with Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin, who visited the city-forming enterprise, which is one of the largest taxpayers and employers in the region.
The director of Agarak Copper-Molybdenum Combine presented the current activities of the enterprise, reported on the ongoing environmental protection measures. Also, the head of the enterprise informed about the assistance provided to the socio-economic development of the region and the implementation of socially significant projects.
To note, the Agarak Copper-Molybdenum Combine is included in the "Armenian" portfolio of assets of the diversified GeoProMining-international group of mining companies. The plant is located in the south of Armenia, on the border with Iran, and is the largest industrial facility in the Meghri region. Since 2007, the Company has invested $ 79 million in the development of Agarak Copper-Molybdenum Combine. Currently, the Agarak plant employs 1,040 people. The average salary of workers and engineers (excluding management) is 340,000 drams (over 700 US dollars). From 2008 to 2018, "Agarak Copper-Molybdenum Combine" CJSC paid taxes and fees to the state budget of the Republic of Armenia in the amount of $ 121.9 million including VAT payments. As a result of its activity, GeoProMining, according to official data, has invested over $ 505 million in the Armenian economy over the 10 year period.
