Armenian textile industry increased 3.2-fold in January-April 2021

ArmInfo.In the textile industry of Armenia, the volume of production in January-April 2021 increased 3.2-fold against the same period of 2020 (against a 31.4% decline a  year earlier), amounting to 530.8 million drams. This is evidenced by  the data of the RA Statistical Committee.

And this growth in the textile industry was provoked by a 2.3-fold  increase in the production of tights, leggings, socks and other  hosiery by Armenian factories - up to 6,747.1 thousand pairs. More  significant positive dynamics was observed in the production of  fabrics, the volume of which for the reporting period amounted to  11.7 tons, exceeding the indicator of a year ago 7.3-fold. And also a  tangible annual growth was recorded in the production of bedding sets  - 6.5-fold to 78.1 thousand pieces.  At the same time, a sharp drop  (by 89.6%) in the production of carpets and rugs was registered in  the textile industry - up to 0.5 tons. The production of jumpers,  pullovers, jackets, jackets (vests) or similar products (knitted or  crocheted) was also in decline, the volume of which sank by 35% - to  1204.9 thousand pieces.  The production of footwear (excluding sports  footwear) decreased by 29.6% to 31,293 pairs.  According to  statistics, in April 2021, the volume of production of the textile  industry increased by 3.8% - up to 128.4 million drams, with a y-o-y  increase in volumes 9.5-fold. A year earlier, the April and annual  dynamics were negative - 83.6-85.8%.
