Armenia`s foreign trade turnover with  EAEU countries grew by 1.6%  per annum in January-April 2021

ArmInfo.Armenia's foreign trade turnover with the EAEU countries in January-April 2021 compared to the same period of 2020 increased by 1.6% (against 2.4% growth a year  earlier), amounting to $ 678.2 million, as evidenced by the final  data of the RA Statistical Committee.

According to statistics, the negative balance of Armenia's foreign  trade with the EAEU countries in January-April 2021 amounted to $  218.5 million, decreasing by 24% on a y-o-y terms (against an  increase of 19% a year earlier) amid a decline in imports by 6.1% to  $ 448.3 million with an increase exports by 20.8% to $ 229.9 million  (against an increase in imports by 8.3% and a decline in exports by  10.6% a year earlier)

The upward trend of Armenia's foreign trade turnover with the EAEU  countries was caused by Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, and in the  direction of Belarus, foreign trade sank. In particular, the foreign  trade turnover of Armenia with Russia accelerated the y-o-y growth  from 2% to 2.4%, with Kazakhstan - from 3.5% to 71.1%, with  Kyrgyzstan result of the 22.1% decline by 93.1% growth, and with  Belarus, on the contrary, reversed the dynamics from 14.9% growth to  31.9% decline.

Russia holds the lead both in terms of the total volume of foreign  trade turnover ($ 656.9 million) and in exports and imports ($ 220.9  million and $ 436 million, respectively). Exports with Russia brought  the y-o- y dynamics from an 11.3% decline to 20.9% growth, while the  import trend reversed from 8.1% growth to a 4.9% decline.

In the structure of Armenia's foreign trade with the EAEU countries,  Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan follow in terms of volume after  Russia - $ 15.8 million, $ 4.8 million and $ 762.9 thousand,  respectively.   The export of Armenian goods to Belarus decreased by 15.6% to $ 4.8  million, while imports in this direction dropped by 37.2% to $ 10.9  million, against the growth of these indicators a year earlier -  exports by 24.2% and imports by 12.5%. In the direction of  Kazakhstan, exports increased 2.1-fold to $ 3.4 million with an  increase in imports by 13.4% to $ 1.3 million, against  multidirectional dynamics a year earlier - a decline in exports by  9.6% and an increase in imports by 29.3%. The export of Armenian  goods to Kyrgyzstan increased 2.2-fold to $ 718.8 thousand with a  decline in imports by 35.6% to $ 44.1 thousand, while a year earlier  an impressive growth was observed in imports (17.4-fold) with a  significant decline in exports (by 34.5%).  

The share of Armenia's foreign trade turnover with the EAEU countries  in the total structure of foreign trade amounted to 31.2% in  January-April 2021 against 33% in the same period in 2020. Moreover,  the share of Russia decreased from 31.7% to 30.3%, Belarus - from  1.1% to 0.7%, Kazakhstan - increased from 0.1% to 0.2%, and  Kyrgyzstan - increased from 0, 02% to 0.04%. 

Namely, in the structure of Armenia's foreign trade with the EAEU  countries, the share of Russia is 96.9%, Belarus - 2.3%, Kazakhstan -  0.7%, Kyrgyzstan - 0.1%.  In total, Armenia's foreign trade turnover  in January-April 2021 amounted to $ 2.2 billion, with a y-o-y growth  of 7.2% (against a 10.4% decline a year earlier). In particular, the  growth in export volumes by 16.7% to $ 818.7 million was accompanied  by an increase in imports by 2.2% to $ 1.4 billion, while a year  earlier both items were in decline - exports by 8.1% and imports by  11.5 %. As a result, the negative foreign trade balance of Armenia  slowed down the annual decline from 16.4% to 14.2%, amounting to $  532.9 million in January-April 2021.
