Russia retains leadership not only in this indicator, but also in exports and imports - $ 220.9 million and $ 436 million, respectively, with the change of the y-o-y export dynamics from 11.3% decline to 20.9% growth with a change of the import trend from 8.1% growth for 4.9% decline. The second place in Armenia's foreign trade turnover continues to be occupied by China, which has secured the same place in terms of exports and imports. Thus, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and China amounted to $ 324.5 million in January-April, with the y-o-y dynamics changing the 11.1% decline by 32% growth. In particular, the export of Armenian goods to China sharply accelerated the y-o-y growth from 11.4% to 2.2-fold, and the import of goods from China changed the dynamics from the 16.4% decline to 4.9% growth, the volume of which amounted to $ 127.1 million and $ 197.4 million, respectively.
Iran is in the third place in the foreign trade turnover of Armenia, keeping the same place in terms of imports. Foreign trade turnover between Armenia and Iran amounted to $ 136.5 million in January-April, with a change of dynamics from 0.4% decline to 35.1% growth. In particular, the volume of exports of Armenian goods to Iran amounted to $ 22.5 million with a deterioration in the y-o-y dynamics from 56% growth to a 19.2% decline, and imports of goods from Iran - $ 114 million, with the change of the 12.4% decline to an increase of 55.7%.
Switzerland ranks fourth in Armenia's foreign trade turnover - $ 119.1 million, with a change of dynamics from 11.1% decline to 9.5% growth. But in terms of exports, Switzerland secured the third place- $ 104.1 million, with a slowdown in they-o-y decline from 21.8% to 0.1%, while the y-o-y dynamics of imports of goods from Switzerland changed from a decline of 80.1% to a 3.4-fold increase - up to $ 15 million.
Germany held the fifth position in Armenia's foreign trade turnover - $ 95.8 million, thanks to the release of the annual dynamics from the 26.7% decline to 35.9% growth. In particular, the volume of exports of Armenian goods to Germany amounted to $ 25.7 million (with the release of the annual dynamics from a 26.2% decline to 55.6% growth), while imports in the amount of $ 70.1 million (with a reversal of the annual dynamics from 26.9 % decline by 29.8% growth).
In TOP-3, after Russia, the second and third places are held by China and Switzerland in terms of exports, and China and Iran in terms of imports. In Armenia's foreign trade turnover, the share of Russia decreased on a y-o-y terms from 31.7% to 30.3%, China - increased from 12.1% to 15%, Iran - from 5% to 6.3%, Germany - from 3.5% % to 4.4%, Switzerland - from 5.4% to 5.5%.
The negative balance of foreign trade between Armenia and Russia decreased by 22.1% to $ 215.1 million, with China - by 46% to $ 70.3 million, with an 2-fold increase in this indicator towards Iran -to $ 91.4 million, Germany - by 18.4% to $ 44.3 million. The balance of foreign trade between Armenia and Switzerland is positive - $ 89.2 million with a y-o-y decline of 10.6%. Among the countries of Armenia's trading partners, in addition to Switzerland, a positive foreign trade balance is recorded: Iraq ($ 41.1 million), Bulgaria ($ 50 million), the Netherlands ($ 27.8 million), the United Arab Emirates ($ 12.3 million), the United States ($ 1.4 million), Kazakhstan ($ 2.1 million) and Kyrgyzstan ($ 674.7 thousand).
In total, Armenia's foreign trade turnover in January-April 2021 amounted to $ 2.2 billion, with a y-o-y growth of 7.2% (against a 10.4% decline a year earlier). In particular, the growth in export volumes by 16.7% to $ 818.7 million was accompanied by an increase in imports by 2.2% to $ 1.4 billion, while a year earlier both exports and imports were in decline - exports by 8.1% and imports by 11.5 %.
Armenia's foreign trade turnover with the EAEU countries in January-April 2021 amounted to $ 678.9 million, with a slowdown in y-o-y growth from 2.4% to 1.6%, against the backdrop of a reversal of import dynamics from 8.3% to 6.1% decline - to $ 448.3 million, while exports changed from a 10.6% decline by 20.8% growth - to $ 229.9 million. And Armenia's foreign trade turnover with the EU countries in January- April 2021 changed from a 13.4% decline by 12.4% growth, exceeding $ 449.6 million, against the background of improving the y-o-y dynamics of exports and imports from 11.7-14.4% decline by 9.4- 14.2% growth - to $ 166.9 million, and $ 282.8 million respectively.
As a result, the negative foreign trade balance of Armenia slowed down they-o-y decline in January-April 2021 from 16.4% to 14.2%, amounting to $ 532.9 million.
