ArmInfo.Acting Minister of High-Tech Industry Hayk Chobanyan received US Ambassador to Armenia Lynne Tracy. This was reported by the press service of the department.
According to the source, during the meeting, Hayk Chobanyan noted that the United States provided Armenia with great assistance in the development of the IT sector in the 2000s, especially with the support of the Armenian Diaspora in the United States.
The Minister noted that many companies were established in Armenia at the expense of American investments, in addition, a fairly presentable engineering base was created, Armenia consolidated its position on the world map in the semiconductor industry, which created great opportunities for the development of cooperation in this area.
Hayk Chobanyan also emphasized the role of USAID in the development of the high-tech industry, within the framework of which a number of programs related to digitalization are being implemented. In turn, Ambassador Lynne Tracy thanked for the reception and congratulated the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian people on the successful conduct of the elections. The Ambassador expressed readiness on the part of the United States to help Armenia in creating an ecosystem of high-tech enterprises, providing advice and assistance in this area.
During the meeting, acting Minister and Ambassador touched upon joint technical educational programs, issues related to cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, etc.
At the end of the meeting, Hayk Chobanyan invited the Ambassador to take part in the events within the framework of the Technology Week to be held in Armenia in October this year.
