ArmInfo. For the prompt solution of the problems of farms, the implementation of systematic work and the provision of institutional solutions in the agricultural field acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on June 29, during a meeting dedicated to irrigation problems, instructed to create a working group.
According to the press service of the Armenian government, during the meeting, Pashinyan indicated that June is accompanied by an unprecedented heat, which leads to problems primarily in the field of water use and irrigation.
Pashinyan urged to accept the fact that this is no longer a phenomenon that occurs once a month or a year, but a global climate change. "Consequently, the problems with irrigation water that we face will be long lasting, and this creates new challenges for us," he said. According to the acting Prime Minister, traditional irrigation as such has no future, and the use of new technologies, including drip irrigation, should become a global strategy in the agricultural sector. In this context, he recalled that the government has undertaken to build and restore reservoirs and increase the volume of accumulated water, in connection with which it is necessary to begin the process of building more than a dozen reservoirs.
