Iran sees opportunities for construction of high-tech center in  Armenia

ArmInfo.Iran, having rich experience in the construction of high- tech centers around the world, offered Armenia to establish a similar center in Armenia,  where bilateral B2B meetings and discussions on the development of  the sector can be held.

The issue was discussed during a meeting  between Armenia's acting Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan and an  Iranian delegation led by Mehdi Eliassi, Vice President for Science  and Technology, which also comprised Deputy Minister of  Communications, Chairman of the Information Technology Organization  Amir Nazemi Ashani, members of the Iranian Parliament,  representatives of a number of large Iranian companies.

The delegation was in Armenia to participate in the Armenian-Iranian  business forum.  Referring to the results of the Armenian-Iranian  business forum, the members of the delegation pointed to the high  interest of Iranian companies in cooperation with the Armenian side  in a number of areas - in industry, construction, agriculture,  pharmaceuticals, food, textile industries, in the production of  medical equipment. At the same time, given Armenia's membership in  the EAEU, the parties discussed the possibilities of organizing joint  ventures in various sectors of the economy and exporting finished  products to the Eurasian and other markets.

In addition, the parties discussed issues  related to cooperation in the pharmaceutical field. The members of  the delegation also suggested exploring the possibilities of creating  a "smart" city through joint efforts.

In turn, Kerobyan noted that the Armenian-Iranian agenda is a  priority for the Ministry of Economy. "To increase the effectiveness  of bilateral cooperation, it is necessary to bring to its logical  conclusion and implement all joint projects," he said.  To recall,  yesterday, Head of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI)  Hamid Zadboom and Deputy Minister of Economy of Armenia Varos  Simonyan discussed issues on removing obstacles to the development of  trade and economic relations between the two countries. "Iran's Trade  Promotion Organization  is ready to hold meetings within the  framework of the Joint Industrial, Mining and Commercial Working  Group to identify the obstacles facing bilateral trade and make  appropriate and effective solutions to remove them," Zadboom said.

At the same time, he called the elimination of non-tariff barriers  and the reduction of logistics and transport costs an important  factor in increasing the volume of trade between the two countries.
