ArmInfo.The metallurgical industry of Armenia slowed down the y-o-y production growth in January-May 2021 to 17% from 24.4% in the same period of 2020. This is evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical Committee.
In particular, the production of ferromolybdenum in Armenia decreased in the reporting period by 12.5% per annum - to 2.996 thousand tons, against an increase of 12.3% a year earlier. In May alone, 644.7 tons of ferromolybdenum were produced, which is 0.7% less than in April.
In the first five months, the production of molybdenum concentrate increased by 2.6% per annum - to 9.713 thousand tons, against an increase of 70.5% a year earlier. In May alone, the production of molybdenum concentrate did not change - 2.403 thousand tons.
Copper concentrate production increased by 4.9% - to 164.6 thousand tons, against an increase of 24.1% a year earlier. On a monthly terms (in May), the production of copper concentrate increased by 9.4% to 36.2 thousand tons.
Zinc concentrate production decreased over the reporting period by 20.4% per annum - to 4,721 thousand tons, against 30.9% growth a year earlier. In May, the production of zinc concentrate decreased by 3.5% - to 977 tons.
Production of aluminum foil for the reporting period decreased by 3% per annum, amounting to 14,087 thousand tons, while a year earlier for the same period, production volumes showed an increase of 10.9%.
At the same time, in May, the production of aluminum foil increased by 7.7% to 2.8 thousand tons. The production of steel pipes in the reporting period of 2021 increased by 29.5% per annum - to 6,277 thousand tons (against an increase of 26.1% a year earlier), and in May alone, there was an increase of 21.1% - to 1,420.2 tons.
Castings from unalloyed (carbon) steel were produced in the reporting period in the amount of 33,817 thousand tons, with a 4.8-fild y-o-y growth (against an increase of 17.8% a year earlier), while almost all production volume was ensured in May - 30,928 thousand tons (against 165.1 tons in April). All metals produced in Armenia are mainly exported to Europe and the USA.
