Revenue of service sector in Armenia grew by only 0.9% in 5 months

ArmInfo.In January-May 2021, the revenue of the service sector in Armenia grew only by 0.9% (from a 4.2% decline a year earlier), amounting to 703.1 billion drams ($  1.3 billion). According to the Statistics Committee,  for May  2021alone, the volume of services provided increased by 3.4%,  amounting to 152.1 billion drams ($ 291.7 million).

According to statistics, in January-May, there was a change in the  y-o-y trend from downward to upward in the following segments of the  service sector: catering and accommodation - from 34.9% decline to  48.4% growth, education - from 17.2 % decline by 5.3% growth,  healthcare - from 10.2% decline to 42.3% growth, real estate - from  12.8% decline to 18.2% growth, transport - from a 22.1% decline to  0.3% growth, administrative and auxiliary activities - from a 28.2%  decline to 9.3% growth, professional, scientific and technical  activities - from 13.6% decline to 28.4% growth. The sector of  culture, entertainment and recreation, on the contrary, worsened the  y-o-y dynamics from 4.8% growth to 37.1% decline.

At the same time, the following continued to grow: the financial  sector (including insurance) - with a slowdown in the y-o-y rate from  11.7% to 3.2%, and the sector of information and communications -  with an acceleration of the y-o-y rate from 5.4% to 13.7%.

The financial sector is the leader in terms of the volume of services  provided - 193.6 billion drams (27.5% of the total). The second place  in terms of the volume of services is taken by the sector of  information and communication - 125.4 billion drams (17.8% of the  total). The third place is occupied by the sector of culture,  entertainment and recreation - 100.8 billion drams (14.3% of the  total), the fourth - the sphere of transport - 70.3 billion drams  (10% of the total). The top 5 are closed by catering and tourist  accommodation sectors- 55.6 billion drams (7.9% of the total).
