After a long time, passenger transportation in Armenia has grown in  conditions of coronacrisis 

ArmInfo.After a long time, passenger transportation in Armenia under the conditions of the coronacrisis, grew by 2.6% per annum in January-May 2021 (from a  49.2% decline a year earlier), amounting to 40,904.7 thousand people.  This is evidenced by the data of the RA Statistical Committee.

According to statistics, the upward trend was provoked by the  transportation of passengers by rail - by 23.1% per annum to 143.4  thousand people, and by electric transport - by 57.7% per annum to  8,509.8 thousand people. At the same time, passenger transportation  by road decreased by 6.1% per annum - to 31 680 thousand people, and  by air - by 6.9% per annum to 571.5 thousand people.

And the volume of cargo transportation in Armenia continues to grow.  In particular, in January-May 2021, the volume of cargo  transportation accelerated the annual growth to 18.1% (from 5.3% a  year earlier), amounting to 6,045.6 thousand tons. Of these, 4,009.8  thousand tons (66.3% of the total volume) are shared by road  transport, with a  y-o-y growth of 34.4%. The volume of air cargo  transportation also increased - by 10.5% per annum to 6.3 thousand  tons. At the same time, rail freight traffic decreased by 10.2% per  annum - to 1,177.7 thousand tons. In January-May 2021, 851.8 thousand  tons of natural gas was delivered via the main pipeline, which is  4.5% more than in the same period last year.  I n general, passenger  traffic increased in January-May by 7.2% per annum, amounting to  553.4 million passenger-km. And freight turnover increased by 6.1%  per annum, amounting to 2,048.1 million tons-km.
