ArmInfo. Acting Minister of Economy of Armenia Vahan Kerobyan called the forecast of the country's authorities on economic growth even by 6% pessimistic. He stated this during an interview with the First TV channel.
"I remain true to my promises, or rather to my plans - to ensure economic growth at the level of 10-11%. This is the most realistic scenario, "he said.
The basis for such forecasts, according to Kerobyan, is also the data of the Statistical Committee, registered for the last half-year. "But seriously speaking, I as former representative of business, can say that on my skin I feel the structure, the possibilities of our economy, I communicate a lot with business representatives, I know their plans, so I can really assess the situation," the acting minister said pointing out the availability of models that make it possible to calculate the real growth of the economy. "Our forecasts today are closer to reality than those of the Central Bank, Ministry of Finance, IMF and other international organizations," he said.
Note that economic growth in the state budget for 2021 is provided at 3.2%, and inflation is set at 4% (+/- 1.5%). The Central Bank of Armenia yesterday improved its forecast for GDP growth for 2021 to 4.6% (from 1.4% previously projected), relying on relatively high upward rates in the industrial and service sectors. According to the updated forecast of the WB, GDP growth in Armenia in 2021 will be 3.4%, accelerating to 4.3% in 2022 and 5.3% in 2023. EDB forecasts economic growth in Armenia by 4.2% in 2021. According to the May forecast, the IMF expects GDP growth in Armenia by 1% in 2021.
