EEC supported  draft roadmap for formation of common market for  organic agricultural products

ArmInfo.Members of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) supported the draft roadmap for the formation of a common market for organic agricultural products in the EAEU.  Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of the  Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Iya Malkina, announced this during  a briefing on July 21.

In particular, she noted that the Commission with the authorized  bodies will develop a draft international treaty aimed at ensuring  the free movement of organic agricultural products within the Union,  prepare proposals for harmonizing the requirements of the legislation  of the EAEU countries for production and labeling, ensuring mutual  recognition of conformity assessment documents, proposals for the  formation of a single register of accredited certification bodies,  manufacturers and official statistical information on the production  and circulation of organic products in the states of the Union.

At the same time, Malkina drew attention to the fact that decisions  on the transition to organic methods of management by organizations  are made on a voluntary basis.

According to her, after the approval of the roadmap by the  Intergovernmental Council, the planned activities will be implemented  in the period 2021-2022.

To note, according to the latest data (for 2018), the share of  organic agricultural production in Armenia in the total agricultural  production is a negligible percentage (0.01%).
