ArmInfo.Members of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) supported the draft roadmap for the formation of a common market for organic agricultural products in the EAEU. Assistant to the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Iya Malkina, announced this during a briefing on July 21.
In particular, she noted that the Commission with the authorized bodies will develop a draft international treaty aimed at ensuring the free movement of organic agricultural products within the Union, prepare proposals for harmonizing the requirements of the legislation of the EAEU countries for production and labeling, ensuring mutual recognition of conformity assessment documents, proposals for the formation of a single register of accredited certification bodies, manufacturers and official statistical information on the production and circulation of organic products in the states of the Union.
At the same time, Malkina drew attention to the fact that decisions on the transition to organic methods of management by organizations are made on a voluntary basis.
According to her, after the approval of the roadmap by the Intergovernmental Council, the planned activities will be implemented in the period 2021-2022.
To note, according to the latest data (for 2018), the share of organic agricultural production in Armenia in the total agricultural production is a negligible percentage (0.01%).
