ArmInfo.On July 21 Acting Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan approved the composition of the working group from the Armenian side to ensure cooperation between the RA and the Russian Federation in the field of space activities, the official website of the RA government reports.
According to the decision, the working group will have to study and develop priority areas of development in the field of space activities within a month, as well as submit proposals to the Russian side on their implementation for organizing further cooperation.
The working group from the Armenian side will be led by the Ministry of High-Tech Industry. The working group will include representatives of the office of the Security Council of the Prime Minister's Office, the Ministry of Defense, the National Security Service, the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Geokosmos CJSC, the Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia.
Back in April 2019, in the release of the Russian Space Systems (RSS) company, it was said that the Armenian company in the field of using the results of space activities Geokosmos (the leading operator of space activities in Armenia, is one of the companies that signed an agreement on the production of satellites of the EAEU) will have access to data from Russian space satellites for Earth remote sensing (ERS). It was reported that Yerevan is going to use access to data from the Russian orbital group to process images for the Ministry of Defense. Agreements were also reached on cooperation in personnel training and exchange of experience and technical data in the development and implementation of final geographic information services. "Within the framework of the agreement, the parties are modernizing the data receiving and processing station located in Armenia. Moscow and Yerevan have thought about forming a joint body capable of building devices for Earth remote sensing satellites, as well as software and services for processing space imagery data," RSS noted.
