ArmInfo. "It was a joke!", told acting Minister of Economy of Armenia Vahan Kerobyan on July 22 journalists, having touched the record he made the day before that labor migrants should be detained. As Kerobyan pointed out, Armenia has an acute shortage of personnel, including shepherds.
The day before, Kerobyan said on his Facebook page that in June 2021, for the first time, the volume of exports of goods from Armenia exceeded the $ 300 million mark, and the Armenian labor market also showed a rapid growth. With all this, Kerobyan noted that there is an acute shortage of personnel in the field of construction, agriculture, IT, manufacturing, and even in such a segment of the transport services as the taxi sector. "Therefore, I urge you to" bring in "relatives who have gone abroad to work to strengthen and develop our country," wrote the acting Minister of Economy.
Kerobyan noted that now there are a large number of vacant jobs in Armenia, and those citizens who try their "destiny" abroad will certainly be able to find a well-paid job in their homeland. "I know that in rural areas there is even a problem with a shortage of shepherds. Many even attract shepherds from different countries," he said. For example, at the sheep breeding farm in Sevan they cannot find shepherds, although they are ready to pay 200 thousand drams. As a result, the management of the farm invites shepherds from Tajikistan and other countries.
In addition, according to acting head of the Ministry of Economy, his appeal also concerned those citizens of Armenia who are "tightly" on benefits "and do not want to work." "I urge these people to give up this way of life and go to work and earn money," he explained.
