ArmInfo. RUSAL, one of the world's largest aluminum producers, produced 1.868 million tonnes of aluminum in H1 2021, which is 0.1% more than in the same period last year.
According to the company's report on production results for H1 year, sales of primary aluminum for this period increased by 5.8%, to 2.0 million tonnes, while the average realized price increased by 30.2%, to 2087 US dollars per tonne. The share of sales of value-added products (VAP) increased by 8% and reached 50%.
Aluminum production in H1 year increased by 2%, to 4.122 million tons, bauxite production - by 2.3%, to 7.637 million tons.
The report notes that in H1 2021, RUSAL's foil rolling mills produced 53.8 thousand tons of foil and packaging, which is 9.7% more than in H1 previous year. The largest volume for the reporting period was produced by the Yerevan plant ARMENAL - 16.9 thousand tons and Sayanogorsk SAYANAL - 19.2 thousand tons. The Uralskaya Foil and Sayanskaya Foil plants produced 14.9 thousand tons and 2.8 thousand tons, respectively.
The report says that in H1 2021, global demand for primary aluminum increased by 11.9% y-o-y to 33.9 million tonnes. In Q2, the aluminum market continued to recover, while the price of aluminum on the LME (London Metal Exchange) exceeded $ 2,500 per tonne. Global primary aluminum production also continued to grow in H1 2021, up 5.7% y-o-y to 33.8 million tonnes. In general, the global aluminum market came to a relative balance in H1 2021 compared to the same period in 2020, when there was a surplus of about 1.7 million tons.
