ArmInfo. The dream project of the leading figure in the IT field of Armenia and the high-tech community the late Karen Vardanyan, who devoted years of his life to promoting the technological sector, will be implemented.
Fundraising initiated by the Union of Advanced Technology Enterprises (UATE), Educational Foundation named after Karen Vardanyan and the Startup Armenia Foundation for the construction of an UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) airport in the village of Lernapat, Lori region, has been completed.
In a record 20 days, with joint efforts it was managed to collect the funds necessary for the construction of the complex and infrastructures. According to preliminary estimates, the start of construction required a financial investment of $ 110 thousand.
The initiators of the project are confident that the opening of such an airport in Armenia will contribute to the development of technological education and strengthening of national security. Member of the Board of Trustees of the Educational Foundation named after Karen Vardanyan Vahan Vardanyan noted that the UAV airport named after Karen Vardanyan will serve as a center for UAV clubs and professional enterprises that already exist or will exist in the future, where young people will receive comprehensive education and the necessary practical skills in various fields, including engineering, aerodynamics, mechanics, programming, etc.
To recall, in October 2020, Karen Vardanyan's family issued a statement in which they announced their intention to initiate fundraising for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). "Today's war has shown that we must prepare for a technology war. For many years, thanks to the efforts of Karen Vardanyan, 575 engineering laboratories "Armath" have been operating, which are fertile soil for the technological transformation of the army. As you know, within the framework of this program, students study complex engineering, which is very useful for the production and use of weapons, "the statement said.
It should be noted that in the war against Artsakh, unleashed last fall by Azerbaijan with the unconditional support of Turkey, the latter actively used Turkish-made strike UAVs.
To recall, Karen Vardanyan, who died in July 2020, was the executive director of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UATE). Thanks to his strategic management and skills, the Union has demonstrated stable growth and implemented innovative programs throughout Armenia. In October 2019, Vardanyan received the Outstanding Personality Award of the World Alliance for Information Technology and Services (WITSA), which was voted for by more than 20 WITSA member countries.
