According to the World Tourism Organization (UN WTO), in 2020, tourist visits in the world decreased by 73%. In Armenia, the growth of tourist visits has been observed since May of this year. According to the results of the first half of the year, the number of internal visits in the country reached 239,263. It should be reminded that earlier Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan stated that this year the ministry plans to receive about 1.2 million tourists. According to the RA Statistical Committee, 375,216 people visited Armenia for tourism purposes in 2020, which is 80.2% less than a year ago. In 2019, the number of tourists in Armenia exceeded 1.8 million, which is 14% more than in 2018.
