Armenian textile industry demonstrates high growth rates

ArmInfo. In H1 2021, Armenia's textile industry has grown 3- fold compared to the same period in 2020, (against a 32.2% decline in the previous year), amounting to  844.8 million drams. This is evidenced by the data of the RA  Statistical Committee. During the month alone, production volumes  decreased by 1.9% to 155.9 million drams.  The growth in the textile  industry was provoked by a 5-fold increase (against a 1.8-fold growth  a year earlier) fabrics produced by Armenian factories - up to 14.5  tons. A significant  y-o-y growth was recorded in the production of  bedding sets - 5.1 times to 92.6 thousand pieces. (instead of 2.3  times growth over the same period in 2020)

The production of tights, leggings, socks and other hosiery also  increased - up to 11144.7 thousand pairs, which is 20.5% higher than  a year ago (against 8% growth a year earlier).  At the same time, the  recession in the textile industry was delayed: production of carpets  and rugs - by 70.6% to 1.5 tons (against a decline of 75.1% a year  earlier); production of jumpers, pullovers, jackets, jackets (vests)  or similar products (knitted or crocheted) - by 40.4% to 1,866.9  thousand pieces (against a decline of 3.1% a year earlier). The  production of footwear (excluding sports footwear) also decreased -  by 8.4% to 62,114 pairs (against an increase of 24.8% a year  earlier).
