The population of Armenia in the first half of 2021 increased by only  0.1%

ArmInfo.By July 1, 2021, the population of Armenia increased by 0.1% or 1.6 thousand people, amounting to 2.965 million people. This is evidenced by the data of  the RA Statistical Committee.

According to the source, the urban population as of the reporting  date is 1.897 million people or 63.9% of the total population, and  1.068 million people live in the villages or 36.1%. The number of  urban and rural residents increased by 0.1% on an annualized basis.  At the same time, the population of Yerevan for the same period  increased by 0.7%, exceeding 1.096 million people. Thus, 36.9% of the  total population of the country is concentrated in the capital.

According to statistics, the most densely populated are the two  regions close to the capital - Armavir (264.2 thousand people) and  Ararat (256.6 thousand people). This is followed by: Kotayk (251.4  thousand people), Shirak (230.4 thousand people), Gegharkunik (227  thousand people) and Lori (211.9 thousand people). In Syunik,  Aragatsotn and Tavush, the number of citizens living is 135.1  thousand, 124.2 thousand and 119.9 thousand, respectively. And the  most sparsely populated region of the country continues to be Vayots  Dzor, where only 47.8 thousand people live.
