ArmInfo. There has been a significant increase in imports of electric cars in Armenia. According to the press service of the Ministry of Nature Protection, such an increase is associated with changes in the Tax Code of Armenia, according to which from July 1, 2019 to January 1, 2022, the import and sale of vehicles with an electric motor is exempted from VAT.
Thus, according to the source, 2,468 electric vehicles were imported to Armenia in the first half of the year, while in the whole of 2020 - 2,155, and in 2019 - 668.
These changes, as stated in the ministry's statement, are aimed at reducing emissions of cars powered by internal combustion engines, as well as reducing the level of air pollution, stimulating the use of environmentally friendly vehicles in Armenia.
