Vahan Kerobyan: In the next 5 years, Armenia intends to ensure at  least 7% economic growth

ArmInfo. In the next 5 years, Armenia intends to ensure at least 7% economic growth, and under favorable conditions - 9%. Armenian Minister of Economy Vahan  Kerobyan stated this during his speech at the 5th Congress of the  Republican Union of Employers of Armenia.

"We have serious work to do in order to confront the challenges that  our country faces today. This means that we need to make great  efforts, "he said.

The minister recalled that the previous year and a half were  difficult enough for the country's economy. In this context, he  pointed to the coronavirus pandemic and the war in Artsakh.  Consumption markets, supply chains and the labor market are under  threat. However, thanks to the efforts of the government, as the  minister further said, it was possible to reduce the loss of economic  potential and save jobs. "After a year and a half, I can say that  these efforts were justified. In June, we registered a record figure  for the number of registered employees, the number of which reached  643 thousand, "he said.

At the same time, Vahan Kerobyan said that the government has to  carry out many reforms, including in the field of public  administration, agriculture, urban planning, etc. "Our goal is to  increase the managerial efficiency of the state system, which would  be able to solve the tasks facing it," he stressed. Speaking about  the agricultural sector, the minister said that there is a large  package of reforms, in particular in land and water legislation. In  the next 5 years, the Ministry plans to increase productivity in  agriculture, which will allow farmers to get out of the poverty line,  earn money and live with dignity. The government's focus, according  to the minister, will also be aimed at increasing labor productivity.  "We cannot brag about this low figure now, so we have identified  several programs that will be aimed at increasing it.  These will be  consulting services, digital transformation, provision of  preferential financial resources, modernization of the equipment  fleet, etc.>, the official said.
