ArmInfo. If a decision is made to put the railway into operation, it will pass through Nakhichevan and Meghri, possibly Ijevan, Minister of Territorial Development and Infrastructures Gnel Sanosyan told reporters on August 12 after a government meeting. Sanosyan is convinced that in case of restoration of railway communication in the region, not only Armenia, but also the countries of the region will benefit. At the same time, as the minister noted, it is impossible to launch a railway without building the appropriate infrastructure - there are sections where there is no railway network, a new one needs to be built. "In Soviet times, the railway also passed through Ijevan. Presumably, if peace reigns in the region and we can completely unblock communications, it will also be economically profitable to work in this direction," the minister said.
