Argentine Chamber of Commerce to open in Armenia in autumn

ArmInfo. Yerevan. There is a high interest in Armenian products in Argentina. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Argentina to Armenia Mariano Vergara stated this during a meeting with Minister of Economy of Armenia Vahan Kerobyan. In this context, the Ambassador suggested that Armenian companies, based on the example of successful experience, consider the possibility of their representation in the Argentine market.

 

In turn, Vahan Kerobyan offered Argentine entrepreneurs to launch their activities in Armenia. In this context, he noted the importance of Armenia's membership in the Eurasian Economic Union, noting that Armenia can offer Argentine companies favorable conditions that will be able to export their finished products to the market of the EAEU and other countries. The parties agreed that there is a great potential between Argentina and Armenia for deepening and strengthening trade and economic ties, enhancing ties between the business communities of the two countries.

 

According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy, Vahan Kerobyan and the Ambassador discussed the possibilities of cooperation in various fields of the economy. In this regard, Mariano Vergara noted that there are great opportunities for exchange of experience and serious cooperation in agriculture between Armenia and Argentina. At the same time, the diplomat said that in September it is planned to open the Argentine Chamber of Commerce in Armenia, which will become another stimulus for the activation of the Armenian-Argentine economic relations. In this regard, Kerobyan expressed his readiness to contribute to the effective activity of the newly created structure. Meanwhile, it should be noted that according to the RA Customs Service, in 2020 the volume of Armenia's exports to Argentina amounted to only $ 62.8 thousand. The lion's share (86.3%) of exported products falls on Armenian wines, which were supplied to the Argentine market in the amount of 12.5 thousand liters, with a customs value of $ 54.2 thousand. In 2019, according to customs data, there was no export from Armenia to Argentina ...  Imports in 2020 in y-o-y terms decreased by 20.5% to $ 11.8 million.  The main weight in value terms fell on tobacco raw materials, which were imported to Armenia in the amount of 2.2 thousand tons with a customs value of $ 9.8 million.
