In parallel with this, acceleration of growth of dollar purchase in the intrabank foreign exchange market during the reporting week was accompanied by a rise in sales, for euro deals the trend reversed from recession to growth, and ruble transactions continued to grow with an accelerating pace. The exchange currency platform has been idle for the fourth year already.
As a result, from August 16 to 20, 2021, the dram began to revaulate against the dollar - from 492.5 to 490.3 AMD / $ 1, continuing to strengthen against the euro - from 578.5 to 572.5 AMD / 1 EUR, against the ruble - from 6.8 to 6.7 AMD/ 1 RUB. A year earlier, on August 20, 2020, the AMD exchange rate against the dollar was 484.8 AMD / $ 1, against the euro - 573.5 AMD / 1 EUR, and against the ruble - 6.6 AMD / 1 RUB, which, in comparison with the current exchange rates, indicates the annual devaluation of the AMD against the dollar and the ruble, with a revaluation against the euro.
As the press service of the RA Central Bank told ArmInfo, transactions in the foreign exchange market from August 16 to 20 amounted to $ 10.6 million at an average rate of 492.75 AMD / $ 1 (against 494.05 AMD / $ 1 in the previous week). Moreover, in the reporting week, the foreign exchange interbank, having worked actively every day, highlighted the same maximum volume on Monday and Thursday - $ 2.7 million each.
At the same time, on the intrabank foreign exchange market from August 16 to August 20, as compared to the previous period (August 9-13), the growth in the purchase of dollars accelerated from 2.4% to 12%, while the dynamics of sales reversed from 17.2% decline to 11, 2% growth, the trend of buying and selling euros came out of a 24.8-14.3% decline to a significant increase of 2.3-2.2-fold, and in ruble transactions, the growth of buying and selling accelerated from 2.3 -11.7% to 16.7-15.4%. As a result, during the reporting period, $ 112.6 million was purchased at an average rate of 489.37 AMD / $ 1.37.8 million at an average rate of 573.66 AMD / 1EUR, and 2.1 billion rubles at an average rate of 6.63 AMD / 1RUB, and sold $ 98.2 million at an average rate of 493.47 AMD / $ 1.34.5 million at an average rate of 578.52 AMD / 1EUR, and 1.5 billion rubles at an average rate of 6.73 AMD / 1RUB. According to the source, from August 9 to 15, 2021 Armenian banks issued AMD 42.3 billion in AMD loans and USD 24.6 million in USD loans. Compared to the previous period (August 2-8), the decline in the volume of issued AMD and USD loans accelerated from 2-6.4% to 4.5-26, 6%. To note, in the first half of 2021, the RA Central Bank made interventions in the foreign exchange market for a total of $ 163.3 million, of which $ 156.3 million was for sale (in January, March and April) and $ 7 million for purchase (in June). In the first half of 2021, only dollar transactions in the amount of $ 357.7 million were carried out on the interbank currency market, which was accompanied by the revaluation of the dram against the US dollar to 509.25 AMD / $ 1 in June from 522.61 AMD / $ 1 in December.
