ArmInfo.The volume of industrial production in Armenia in January- July 2021 accelerated the annual growth to 2.1% (from 1.3% a year earlier), exceeding 1.2 trillion drams ($ 2.3 billion). According to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, such a slight acceleration in the growth of industrial production was due to a significant slowdown in the growth of the mining industry, with a continuing downward trend in the volume of the manufacturing industry.
At the same time, in July alone, the industrial sector stagnated (against growth by 1.4% in July 2020), while maintaining the volume at the level of 189.2 billion drams ($ 385.4 million). In January-July 2021 in the mining industry and open pit development, the annual growth slowed to 7.3% (from 20.9% a year earlier), with a volume of 374.6 billion drams. In July alone, the mining sector showed a decline of 11.9% - to 48.1 billion drams.
The volume of the manufacturing industry in January-July 2021 slowed down the annual decline to 1.1% (from 3.6% a year earlier), amounting to 705.7 billion drams, of which 115.7 billion drams fell in July, with an increase of 3% over the month. In particular, the decline in the manufacturing industry was due to the decline in the production of jewelry (by 48.3%), finished metal products (by 46.2%), basic metals (by 22.4%), the chemical industry (by 17.4%), cigarettes (17.7%), printing (10.2%), and furniture (1.1%). Growth was recorded in the production of textiles (3.4-fold), machinery and equipment (79.4%), clothing (33.9%), electrical equipment (32.7%), other non-metallic products (29, 9%), rubber products (21.9%), beverages (17.7%), computers, electrical and optical equipment (16.4%), food (3.8%), and manufacturing pharmaceutical products (by 2.7%).
In the manufacturing industry, the leaders in terms of production are food (248.8 billion drams), beverages (102.1 billion), basic metals (94.2 billion drams), cigarettes (70.1 billion).
The supply of electricity, gas, steam and conditioned air as a whole increased in January-July 2021 by 9.1% against the same period of 2020 (against an increase of 2.2% a year earlier) - to 159.3 billion drams. In July alone, an increase of 19.7% was recorded - up to 22.9 billion drams. At the same time, generation, transmission and distribution of electricity in January-July increased by 9% per annum, while gas production, distribution of gaseous fuel through gas supply systems increased by 9.8%.
Incomes from water supply, waste treatment and processing and production of secondary raw materials increased in January-July by 7.2% per annum (against 18.8% decline a year earlier), amounting to 12.9 billion drams. Moreover, the growth in this segment was mainly due to the collection, treatment and distribution of water - on an annualized basis by 7.7%.
The average calculated AMD exchange rate in July 2021 was 490.87 AMD / $ 1, and in January-July 2021 - 517.62 AMD / $ 1, against 484.65 AMD / $ 1 - in July 2020 and 483.67 AMD / $ 1 - in January-July 2020.
