ArmInfo. The World Bank (WB) sees the need to strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia. This was stated by World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus Sebastian Molineus, during a meeting with the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia Vahram Dumanyan.
According to the press service of the department, as an important precondition, the WB representatives emphasized the fact that in the program of the Armenian government education is given a key place in the context of human capital development, which is consonant with the main obligations of the WB.
Welcoming the guests, Minister Vahram Dumanyan stressed that the Ministry has implemented many sectoral and substantive programs with the World Bank, which have proved to be very efficient. In this context, the Minister highlighted the current educational programs implemented with the support of the World Bank.
It is reported that during the discussions, the parties attached importance to professional skills development programs that will help prepare competitive specialists in accordance with the requirements of the labor market and increase labor productivity.
According to the source, within the framework of the World Bank's support programs, 136 preschool institutions were founded in Armenia, of which 127 were in the regions of the country, 9 in the capital, 13 secondary schools were repaired (10 in the regions, 3 in Yerevan), natural science laboratories were opened in 107 high schools (physics, chemistry, biology, geography), about 18 innovative grant programs were implemented to strengthen the potential of universities, and teacher retraining programs were implemented.
