
ArmInfo.A regular meeting of the Armenian-German intergovernmental commission on financial and technical cooperation was held in the capital of Germany yesterday.
According to the information of the RA Ministry of Economy, the Armenian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Economy, Co-Chairman of the Intergovernmental Commission Rafael Gevorgyan. The delegation also included Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Vache Terteryan, First Deputy Minister of Justice Kristine Grigoryan. On the German side, the Commission was attended by Director-General for Asia; SouthEastern and Eastern Europe; Middle East; Latin America; civil society and churches at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) Dr. Claudia Warning.
During the meeting, a number of issues related to the Armenian-German cooperation were discussed. The parties considered successful the implementation of bilateral development programs in the field of energy, renewable energy sources, environmental conservation, water supply and other areas aimed at sustainable development.
They also discussed issues related to regional projects - financial cooperation, communal infrastructure, energy projects in the Caucasus, integration in the field of water resources management.
The Armenian delegation presented the reforms carried out in Armenia, reforms of the legal system, programs to support small and medium-sized businesses.
The parties agreed on the need to ensure the continuity of all joint projects, agreed to continue work to combat COVID- 19.
Opportunities for expanding cooperation within the framework of the reform strategy were also discussed. Many provisions of this strategy are in line with the new program of the RA government, in particular, issues of climate change, healthcare, digital technologies. The tasks related to investment activity were discussed.
The parties expressed their readiness to take the necessary steps to quickly organize the signing of an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany on the functioning of the offices of the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the German Development Bank (KfW). An agreement was reached to sign a 2020 financial cooperation agreement in September.
The RA Ministry of Economy reminded that the previous meeting of the Armenian-German Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Financial and Technical Cooperation was held on November 21-22, 2016 in Yerevan.
