State Treasury of Armenia will put up for auction diamonds, emeralds,  gold and jewelry worth 1.5 billion drams

State Treasury of Armenia will put up for auction diamonds, emeralds,  gold and jewelry worth 1.5 billion drams

ArmInfo. On September 24, the RA government approved a program of measures to alienate state reserves of precious metals and precious stones of the "State  Treasury of Precious Metals and Stones" agency of the Ministry of  Finance of Armenia for 2022-2024. The project was approved without a  report or discussion.

According to the substantiation certificate to the document, the  State Agency has accumulated over the years a sufficient number of  precious stones, as well as items made of precious metals and  precious stones, which eventually lose their relevance - presentation  and value.

To improve the efficiency of state reserves management, the RA  Ministry of Finance adopted an approach according to which only  highly liquid ingots, items of high artistic value made of precious  metals and precious stones, should be kept in state reserves, which  became the basis for developing a plan to alienate illiquid items  from state reserves.  Thus, the project provides for the alienation  of illiquid items of the State Treasury through public auctions,  according to priority, first of all alienating the most illiquid  items.

At the same time, the sale of items is envisaged, first of all, in  the "classical" way (with a gradual increase in starting prices), and  then - in the "Dutch" way (with a decrease in starting prices).

It is noted that the total value of the values of the state reserve  in the state treasury as of January 01, 2021 amounted to about 2  billion 156 million drams.

The auction will feature diamonds, polished diamonds, gold, emeralds,  jewelry with a market value of 1.533 billion drams.
