ArmInfo. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Armenia jointly with the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the RA organized an Armenian-Czech business forum on October 1 in Yerevan.
The business delegation of the Czech Republic is represented by 12 enterprises engaged in the production of aluminum, medical beds, cranes and forklifts, accumulators, various types of cylinders, devices for water purification, aesthetic medicine, air conditioners and ventilation systems, as well as representing the tourism, financial and banking sectors.
The Forum was opened by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan and the Czech Republic Jakub Kulhanek.
During his speech, Ararat Mirzoyan noted that the Armenian-Czech relations are based on mutual respect of the two peoples. He attached importance to the continuation of the development of cooperation with the Czech Republic, based on common values and democratic principles.
According to the RA Foreign Minister, Armenia and the Czech Republic have ample opportunities for cooperation in the field of high and information technologies, renewable energy, water resources management, healthcare, tourism, agriculture. "I hope that the forum will lead to the expected results," he stressed.
The Minister noted that one of the priorities of the Foreign Ministry is the modernization of the mechanisms of economic diplomacy, which will significantly increase the inflow of foreign investments, the volume of foreign trade, tourist flow, and will contribute to the exchange of experience and technologies. In this regard, he stressed the importance of creating favorable conditions for investment and work of Czech entrepreneurs in Armenia. In addition, as Mirzoyan noted, the launch of direct flights in the direction of Yerevan-Prague will also contribute to the activation of economic ties.
In turn, Jakub Kulhanek noted that Armenia is a very important country for the Czech Republic. "Close and friendly relations are not limited to any serious issues," the Czech diplomat said. The Czech Foreign Minister noted that bilateral business cooperation creates a tangible basis for the development of relations between the countries. At the same time, he pointed to the presence of potential, the implementation of which will contribute to the stimulation of economic cooperation. In this context, the diplomat said that the 5th meeting of the Armenian-Czech intergovernmental commission will be held in Yerevan next month.
Jakub Kulhanek also noted that he highly appreciates the democratic processes taking place in Armenia since 2018, noting in this regard the parliamentary elections held in June. "This makes it possible to continue the development of bilateral relations with Europe," he said. To note, B2B meetings will be held during the forum. According to the RA Statistical Committee, the foreign trade turnover between Armenia and the Czech Republic in January-July 2021 amounted to $ 13.1 million, which is 13.5% less than a year ago. At the same time, exports increased by 24.8% to $ 1.6 million, while imports fell by 17.1% to $ 11.5 million
