ArmInfo.The alcohol industry in Armenia is steadily increasing production volumes. According to the data of the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia, in January-August 2021, the largest volume of alcohol produced in the country falls on the production of brandy. And the highest growth rates were recorded for the production of whiskey.
During the reporting period, 25.7 million liters brandy were produced in Armenia, with a y-o-y growth of 18.9% (against a 12% decline a year earlier).
The volume of wine produced amounted to 7.9 million liters, with a y-o-y growth of 43.7% (against a 24.2% decline in January-August 2020), champagne - 375.5 thousand liters, with a y-o-y growth of 39.2% (against a 26.3% decline in January-August 2020).
At the same time, the production of vodka also increased - by 13% (against a 22.4% decline a year earlier) to 2.8 million liters, and beer production - by 24.1% (against a 13.2% decline a year earlier) up to 21.1 million liters.
According to statistics, 478.9 thousand liters whiskey were produced in Armenia during the reporting period, with an increase in volume 3-fold (against a 69.6% decline a year earlier).
It should be reminded that, according to the RA Customs Service (RA CU), in H1 2021, Armenia exported 1.4 million liters wine, which is 56.6% higher than a year ago (against a 30.6% decline in H1 2020). At the same time, the customs value increased by 55.7% to $ 5.1 million. Traditionally, the main export market for Armenian wine is the Russian Federation, which accounts for 59% of exports (against 69.8% in H1 2020), followed by Ukraine with a share 10.9%, USA - 10.5%, and much smaller volumes are supplied to Kazakhstan, Italy, France, Bulgaria, Belgium, Poland, Lithuania and Canada.
Export of beer in H1 2021 increased by 72.1% (against a decline of 56.7% a year earlier) to 699.4 thousand liters, while the customs value doubled to $ 672.9 thousand. The main market for export supplies of Armenian beer is also the Russian Federation, having increased its share from 64.6% to 74.7%, USA - 8.1%, France - 5.4%, as well as China, Belgium, Iraq and Uruguay, Georgia and Argentina.
In H1 2021 Armenia has increased the export of ethyl alcohol (strength up to 80 degrees), including alcohol-containing tincture, liqueur and other alcoholic beverages by 22.9% (against a 22.7% decline a year earlier) to 12.2 million liters. At the same time, the customs value amounted to $ 95.1 million, exceeding the level of a year ago by 14.6%. The lion's share of ethyl alcohol exports falls on the Russian market with a share of 85.9%, the remaining volume was distributed among a number of countries, including Ukraine, Belarus, Iraq, Georgia and the United States.
For some unknown reason, the Customs Union of the Republic of Armenia does not publish specific data on the export of brandy.
